Mahogany Sunburst -
Long Scale Tenor Ukulele
$1,850
This tenor ukulele is crafted from reclaimed mahogany sourced locally and processed myself in the shop. I dressed it up with a beautiful sunburst finish: warm amber wood tones in the center transitioning into black near the edge. You'll see this 2 tone sunburst on both the top and back AND the sides + neck as well.
Kimo Hussey prefers a 19" scale tenor ukulele, and he sure enjoyed playing this one! The extra two inches of string length has two major impacts on the ukulele's sound and feel. First off, the fret spacing is a little wider than the typical tenor ukulele but not quite as far apart as a baritone fingerboard. This gives player's a little more space to work in between frets while still being able to pull off those 5-7 fret stretches (or more!) between notes. Secondly, the added scale length paired with a tenor body moves the bridge about an inch lower on the body, locking the bridge saddle into that sweet spot on the ukulele where the body is widest. The result is better soundboard activation so the ukulele responds to the lightest touch with a big, warm sound.
Currently set up with a re-entrant string tuning.
