Beginning Today "consists entirely of instrumental compositions, mainly very bright, upbeat pieces dominated by glistening chords and tuneful fingerpicking" - Blair Jackson of Ukulele Magazine
Get the music:
Christopher Trietsch’s debut album features 12 original instrumental ukulele compositions recorded by layering the sounds of 3 of his own handmade ukuleles, accompanied by Rosemary Trietsch (piano), Barry Waller (Bass), and Jesse Torres (Electric Guitar). Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Fred Gaurino of Long Island’s legendary Tiki Recording Studios, the 12 tracks on Beginning Today were inspired by the sights and sounds of Christopher’s home and expertly arranged and produced by his mother, Rosemary. The tracks “Lovers’ Waltz” and “Great South Bay” epitomize the sweet-sounding joy of the album, while “Plum Puddle” with Rosemary on piano evokes thoughtful reflection. Barry’s supportive bass cradles the ukulele and adds wonderful depth to “Off the Jetty” where Christopher’s ukulele is briefly flanged for an exciting passage. “Adventures of Chris” delivers a Spanish flair, and Jesse Torres plays a soulful blues guitar solo in “Solace”. The album concludes with a harmonious weaving of ukulele lines in “Afternoons with you”. Released 2020
